Native Plant Guide

Aitkin County is home to several native plant species, each with its own unique combination of wildlife, food, and aesthetic benefits. Many of these species are sold through the Aitkin County SWCD’s annual Native Tree and Plant Sale, but availability changes from year to year.

Plant Kits

Live plants will be offered in full tray kits. Each kit will consist of 36 plants. Six plants of six different species are priced at $65.00/kit. Specific species will be determined by the nursey and Aitkin SWCD, to ensure species are a perfect fit for Aitkin County environment.

Seed Mixes

Choose from a variety of MNL’s signature seed mixes; comprised of local-ecotype seed native
to Minnesota. All mixes contain native grass, sedge, and wildflower species unless otherwise
indicated. Cover crop and filler are also included (excluding 100 sq. ft. sizes) for best planting success.
