Black Spruce Seedling Bundle

Black spruce is tolerant of cold northern climates and wet sites. It is a uniquely adapted Minnesota native tree commonly found in pure stands in relatively uninhabitable nutrient-poor bogs. It has short needles, and very small, egg-shaped cones. Twigs may have a rusty appearance from short, orange hairs. The tree form is narrow and pyramidal. It has sweeping branches with slightly upturned ends. Black spruce is not commonly used in landscape plantings, and it may be stressed in warmer weather.
